Our idea:
Hello! We are Vera and Ludwig – friends, business partners, and passionate travelers. Our paths crossed a few years ago on a trip through Georgia. Since then, we have shared not only our enthusiasm for this country but also many joint projects.
Georgia is a land full of wonders: here, the subtropical Black Sea meets the snow-covered peaks of the Caucasus. This diversity of climates makes it a unique place at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
Georgia’s history goes back to the ancient kingdoms of Colchis and Iberia – through centuries of resistance against invaders to the golden age under Queen Tamar. What has always remained is the depth of Georgian culture and the beauty of its language – with its own alphabet, unlike anywhere else in the world.
And then there is the food. Georgian cuisine is a true feast for the senses – and in many dishes, walnuts play a starring role: in Sazivi, Badridschani, Pkhali. Here, walnuts are not just an ingredient – they are part of the cultural memory. Over 4,000 years ago, they were already mentioned in Colchis, ancient Georgia – one of the oldest records of walnuts in the world.
As travelers, we know that walnuts are also a true superfood – light, nutrient-rich, good for the heart and brain, full of omega-3, vitamins, and even melatonin for better sleep.
One day, we tried the best walnuts we had ever eaten. We got them from David, the owner of an orchard in Kakheti – the cradle of winemaking, which also produces many other delicious fruits. He said at the time, “You’ve never eaten walnuts like these.” And he was right.
The nut was tender, almost white, incredibly buttery. The shell could be opened by hand – because it hadn’t lain on the ground for long. In David’s orchard, the trees are gently shaken at harvest time so that only the ripe nuts fall. They are collected immediately, before they can be damaged or discolored. And that is exactly what makes the difference: these walnuts are fresh, intact – and have never seen a conveyor belt.
How does it usually happen? They are harvested – somehow. Then machine-cracked, often damaged, carelessly packaged, shipped, stored for months – and finally end up on the shelf, where they sit for weeks or months. In the process, they lose not only their flavor but also valuable nutrients.
Then we thought: why not share this unique, honest premium walnut taste from the Kakheti orchard with others? No middlemen. No marketing fluff. No long journeys. Just fresh, truly good walnuts – straight from the source.
And then we remembered: in Germany, there was someone who once managed exactly that – delivering a premium product, cheaper than anyone else.
But more on that later...
